I went to the doctor yesterday and they told me the baby was 16 weeks and 5 days and that my due date is March 17th 2008 I got my last period between June 11th and June 18th the tech told me that I was pregnant while I had my period. Could it be possible that I got pregnant the last week of may... but when I count back 16 weeks it leads me to the week of June 11th and when I could back 40 weeks I get the same week the week of June 11th. I'm confused when did I get pregnant in June or the last week of may? When I do the due date calculator it tells me I conceived between June 21- June 25 if I go by that it makes sense if I go by the tech I'm confused... please help me figure this out.

It is still possible to have your period while you are pregnant especially if you are on the pill and do not realize you are pregnant. I never used the pill until after my third baby born
Aug 4. I was pregnant again with my fourth by Oct and didn't realize it and for almost three months because I was having periods and the doctor said that can happen.
It would be a good idea to see your doctor as soon as you possibly can and take your prenatal vitamins.

Hi! With a due date of March 17th, your estimated date of conception was June 25th 2007. Techs generally mean well, but you must remember- they are techs, not doctors. They have usually had very little training in relation to an MD. Normally due dates are first configured by the mom's report of the first day of her last period, then later confirmed through size on an ultrasound In this case, your due date would indeed be March 17th. So most likely, the tech just got confused. Your last period was June 11th, and you probably conceived on or around the 25th, and consequently your due date is March 17th.

We must also remember that pregnancy, as far as conception goes, is NOT an exact science. All the doctors do is guess at an ESTIMATED date of conception and an ESTIMATED date of delivery.

As stated above, we go by the first date of your last period. Now this can be incorrect as some women do tend to have what looks like a period in early pregnancy.

The ultra sound tech actually goes by measurements of the head, length, and size of the femur, as well as other organs that are developed at the time of the scan. But again, this is an estimate only.

The best guess we have is when the baby is actually born and we do a test called a New Ballard test that looks very closely at muscle tone, color, formation of certain cartilages, as well as specific genital formation. This is really the closest we get as far as gestational age.
