Pray thankful type prayers and read the Bible and things about spirit and soul like
    Watchman Nee: Spiritual Man
I enjoy reading Jewish stuff too like HaRav Ariel Bar Tzadok
The closer you open yourself to your soul and spirituality the closer you will feel drawn to God

I think excon is correct many people come here not to learn or to ask questions they are wanting answers to, as much as to ask provoking questions to try and get people disagreeing and the such.

But basically God knows you and your mind, and your heart. You don't have to do anything but talk to God, you can do it, in prayer and prayer can be done no matter what you are doing.

I also would like to know the answer to this question. But if you are looking for facts, I don't think you are posting a very fair question. There are not alot of facts surrounding Faith.

We are in contact with the almighty when we do good and follow the criterion of right and wrong set by the Almighty.

When we pray, when we go about our daily lives doing the mundane things in life,we are in contact with the Almighty if we are doing it with the right intentions, that is to please the Almighty.

We are in constant contact with the Almighty,if we remember Him when we wake up and remember Him before sleeping. All the things in between waking up and sleeping, we are also in contact with Him.

And never forget that the Almighty watches us even if we do not see Him.
He know what is in ones heart and we conceal nothing from Him.

I'm not going to take exception to the answer above. We might not be on quite the same page yet concerning our thoughts and I don't wish to debate something that is so speculative being that it's a matter of faith, learning and understanding about those things. But, in my opinion and understanding, based upon the page that I am on, there are many facts surrounding faith.

In order to answer the original question though, for me, prayer is the way that I contact God. Prayer can also be in many forms. But, that is for another discussion.

    Exodus 15:25
So Moses cried out to the Lord for help, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. Moses threw it into the water, and this made the water good to drink. It was there at Marah that the Lord set before them the following decree as a standard to test their faithfulness to him.
    Judges 10:10
Finally, they cried out to the Lord for help, saying, “We have sinned against you because we have abandoned you as our God and have served the images of Baal.”
    Psalm 18:6
But in my distress I cried out to the Lord;yes, I prayed to my God for help.He heard me from his sanctuary;my cry to him reached his ears.
Psalm 18:5-7 (in Context) Psalm 18 (Whole Chapter)
    Psalm 22:5
They cried out to you and were saved. They trusted in you and were never disgraced.
    1 Kings 8:39
Then hear from heaven where you live, and forgive. Give your people what their actions deserve, for you alone know each human heart.
    Psalm 48:9
O God, we meditate on your unfailing love as we worship in your Temple

We are instructed by the LORD to cry out to Him, He promises to hear, we are to sorship Him and meditate (think on) His love and His word.

Let me expand on my previous comment:

Prayer doesn't need to be some high and lofty worded thing. Actually Jesus criticized the Pharisees for doing so. If we want to talk to God, just talk to Him. Jesus said He is a friend of sinners. I usually just talk to Him throughout my day--when things are good, when things are tough, when I am happy, when I am sad--and tell Him how I feel, what I need and thank Him for being there. I talk to Him like He's in the seat next to me or standing beside me because the Bible says He is always with me.
