    My mom drinks beer
I have a question about my mother... she has been drinking beer ever since I can remember. And I know she's addicted to it because she buys a six pack like every single day and she'll drink the whole thing in one night. Only a few time she went 1 night without drinking beer but a lot of times she drinks almost every night. And what I hate about it is when she drinks, its like she transform into another person. She looks different and sometime she might act crazy and say weird things. Everybody notices it about my mom. When people talk to her on the phone and she's drinking they can tell she is because its so obvious. I always told her she should stop drinking but she'll just get pissed off and tell me she can do watever she wants to do in her own house. It makes me ticked off because what taste so good about beer? Why do she go to the store just to buy it? And another thing.. I wanted to ask you does drinking a lot of beer make you get a big belly because my mom doesn't eat or drink much at all and somehow her stomach is so big. She went to the doctor and they told her she gained like 15 more lbs but she don't understand how. She has very high blood pressure. I told her it might be because she drinks too much beer and that she has a beer belly. And I researched that beer has lots of carbs and can make you fat if you drink too much. Also I found out that beer drinkers are prone to obesity.. so even if they don't eat that much they can still easily gain weight. I want to ask you if you think that my mom's big belly can possibly really come from drinking so much beer because I want to really convince her she's wrong and that she should stop drinking it

You need to talk to alcoholics anonymous - try your local yellow pages.

Tell them your mother needs an "intervention"...

Do you have a father or relative who can help you?

    Remember, it's called an INTERVENTION.
Your mom will be upset at first but will love you a lot more later

Six beers a day is too much but I'm afraid that maybe six is just the beer you see her drink - hopefully its not more. The best you can do is state your opinion. Its really up to her to change this behavior. As people get older its more difficult to change who they are and what they do. The best you can do is take a lesson from her and not go down the same path. You have to set the bar high for yourself. Expect a lot of yourself. LEarn by other peoples mistakes. Set goals for yourself. In setting goals, say you want to accomplish X by the end of the week, and then accomplish Y by the end of the month, and Z by year's end, and A within 2 years, and then 5 years and 10 and 20...
Alcohol can be an enjoyable aspect in a persons life but it must be used wisely. Drinking every night will make you a person who will never achieve anything.
As for gaining weight, there is asomehting called cirrhosis of the liver. The liver processes alcohol among everything else in your bode. Alcohol is actually a poison and in large amounts over a long period can permanently scar the liver. The liver will then over grow in size from scar tissue. This distended liver can be seen as a big belly. Also, beer is about 260 cals per can. If your Mom brinks 6 then that is over 2000 calories. I would guess that is about the total calories she needs a day to live. So if you add the calories she gets from food then she is consuming more calories than she requires and the excess will be stored as fat.
The best advice is to save your breath and instead focus you energy on yourself and try to become all you can in life.
