    Family member eviction
Two and a half years ago, my son and his family entered into a verbal agreement with me. They would move into my home, pay the utilities, and save their money to re-mortgage/finance the house after two years so I could purchase a condo. About a year and a half ago, my son approached me concerning their paying the utilities. He said it was causing them financial difficulties to pay the utility bills. He also asked me to loan him $2000 so they could pay off their credit cards and start saving money to take over the mortgage on the house. I agreed to the loan, and put the utilities in my name with the understanding that they would still help with the payments and pay back the loan. After two years, I approached them about taking over the mortgage and was told that they could not do that at that time. They have never paid a cent toward the re-payment of the loan.
I have been paying the mortgage for two and a half year and utilities for a year and a half, and purchasing all the food for five people for two years. This has become a financial burden on me, and about a month ago, after they accused me of stealing their cigarettes, I asked them to start paying part of the utility bills. They refused and called me vulgar and obscene names. I told them that they needed to start paying or leave and they threatened me by saying that if they had to leave, I would never see my grandchildren again. Since then, they have not spoken to me or let my grandchildren interact with me. My son also told me that it would take them a few weeks but they were moving out. At present, they have not moved out. I would like to know what steps I need to take to remove them from my home. I live in Michigan.

    Hello wolf:

You need to evict them according your states landlord tenant law. You can find a copy right here at the top of this forum on a sticky note. The procedure is relatively straight forward and easy to do.
