2 yr old zu not eating
My 2yr old zu (harley) recently lost his mate sooty. They had been together for all of his life. Now harley is becoming a very fussy eater some days he will not eat at all. We took him to the vet and the vet said it might be a bowel infection. He is on 2 types of tablets 1) Prendnil 2) Tribrissen does any one know if the tablets or stress could be causing him to have a lack of appetite. He has had a blood test and all is OK. Vet took a stool sample as he had diarrhea and that was OK. I am getting very worried about him. Some days he will drink and some days not. He has always been a sensitive dog.

Speaking from a medicinal standpoint only so that maybe Labman or Rubypitbull will reply on a dog standpoint...

These drugs are used for veterinary purposes, not human consumption...

Prendnil is basically a corticosteroid (known to us humans as Prednisone), which usually increases appetite.

Tribessen is an antibiotic of a Sulfa nature...

Now, you dog experts can take over...

Usually if a dog is under the care of a vet, I suggest calling them when additional problems crop up. Read through the sticky at https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/i...tml#post254171 Evaluate your dog using the link in the sticky. Unless its ribs are very prominent, I wouldn't do much except continue to offer it its regular chow even if you can't get through to the vet until Monday. Loss of another dog plus the medicine could mean you may have to do more than wait it out. Your vet is much better able to answer that than me.
