I want to add another bathroom on my main floor. Just a sink and toilet. The house is fairly long and all the plumbing pipe are toward the middle and where I want to put the new bath is toward the back which is about 30 feet away from all the piping. Water line are no problem but my concern was the venting. Drains I didn't think it would be a problem since I could go through the basement Would I have to install a new vent for this bathroom. I was hearing thing about the auto vent which I hear is fine for a sink but the toilet I didn't think it would be sufficient. Any suggestions.

Check out auto vents at; http://www.studor.com/homeowners.htm and be pleasantly surprised when you learn that you don't have to run out a roof vent when you use a AAV(Air Admittance Vent). Just install it on top of the tee that picks up the lavatory. Tie the toilet into the sewer main and the lavatory drain into the toilet branch.

You saved me a lot of work. So I install the auto vent after the trap of the sink and should extend it at least 4" above and that should take care of both, sink and toilet.

That's correct. Just install it on top of the tee that picks up the lavatory, tie the toilet into the sewer main and the lavatory drain into the toilet branch so that the toilet will be wet vented through the AAV on the lavatory. Good luck, Tom
