How to catch a mouse?

Its been running around my house for quite some time now. I'm prettyt sure there's only one. Any ideas how? The cheapest and fastest way. My wife is FREAKED OUT!

I have a mouser you can borrow for a day or two. She's a pretty grey color and very affectionate. She keeps our basement rodent free. Do you live near Chicago?

LMAO, I had this dilemma a couple years ago. Mu husband used, and you won't believe it, but it worked...

On the sticky traps he put a piece of one of those easter marshmallow peeps. We had it caught by early evening. NOW, I want to warn you, what we found out...

If you have one, and have had it for a while, you most likely have many, you just can't see them yet.

After cleaning out our pantry and other cupboards, (make sure your dog food is in a sealed container if you have a dog), we lined all shelves with aluminum foil (they don't like the feel on their tiny little feet or the sound). We also lined all possible entry ways with, yeah it stinks, but it works, Moth Balls.

That was our quick cheap fix and we have been mouseless for almost 2 years now.

SWEET! I'll try that. Ya, I kind of figured that maybe there's more than one and I'm pretty there is... scaryyy. I hate them LOL

If you place traps put them along a wall; rodents run alongside walls, not through the middle of a room (generally speaking), so you will be more likely to catch them. I learned that on Dirty Jobs, lol! :)

Or you could get/borrow a cat, you'll shortly be mouse-free!

Oh, yeah I forgot, that's where we placed the sticky traps with the peeps on. Along the baseboards and behind furniture.

Also on a sticky trap you can place one fruit loop cereal right in the center of the pad, works great. Also on the older style Victor brand snapping mouse traps, you can take some sewing thread and tie a fruit loop to the traps trigger and you will catch them and they should be dead when you get there, and you can also a lot of times hear the pop when you have caught a mouse. As where with the sticky pads the mouse will be alive, frightened, often squealing, and may try to bite you. But you can pick up the trap, fold and squeeze at the head area, and throw it away.

OK, I couldn't find any sticky traps at wal mart the other day ( guess they were sold out). But, I did pick up poison (the ones you break off and leave it on the ground and have the mice chew on it). It's been 2 days and nothing yet! Guess the stuff don't work :(

I'll look around for the sticky stuff this weekend!

Making them "walk the plank" is much more fun and creative. MTLS req'd: A table, a ruler, peanut butter, a garbage can with a trash bag liner. Put Peanut butter at the end of a ruler, place at the edge of the desk with garbage can below. Mouse walks on desk, smells peanut butter, walks on ruler, finds itself in garbage can, can't get out because of the plastic bag.

The only problem with this is that the mice will eat the poison and then go into hiding, walls, behind furniture, etc. Then die. You won't know where they die, but you will begin to smell it.

I saw one, put out traps and ended up catching 5. I used the standard snap traps. They worked great. I baited them with peanut butter and put them behind furniture, behind the refigerator, and behind the stove. If you look around you will probably find where they've been hanging out. It'll be evident by the droppings and random things they've dragged there. That's the best place to put the trap. Good luck!

Hnmmm that doesn't sound too good :( . I got the impression that it would die as soon as it chews on it (what was I thinking haha... crap! )

Sounds like a lot of u are suggesting peanut better. Sounds really odd to be used as a bait for mice! Any reason why this is?

Peanut butter -n- Oats if you really want to tempt them.

Of course the plank works, that's how we catch them at work.

One ended up hanging from a noose on someone's door. It was then moved so it was hanging from the rear view mirror of a jeep. That mouse got around.

I live out in the country and when the weather starts chilling those little creatures come in, and I have three cats, (which I now assume are vegetarians) this is what I've tried, Not the most humane but I put on a mouse trap, a small hunk of raw bacon with the white fatty part or chunky peanut butter, which they seem to love, Or you can use those sticky boxes they walk into and don't come out of, they work equally as well. But if your not into torture, a lot of humane society's have the live traps that you can either rent for a small fee or they give you, this is the most humane of course but then where do you put the little creature back in the woods.. somewhere far away, hopefully!
