Is that appropriate?

My dad has been deceased for nearly 10 years and my mom created circumstances after he died with substance abuse that made life rather miserable so I do not want her to do it. I was going to have my Fiance's father walk me down the isle but he died two years ago, my next choice was my Grandfather but he sadly passed away recently. I don't really know what to do.

Any suggests or advice would be welcome.

My brother walked down the aisle with me. Anyone that you feel close to will work, I think.

I agree with emland any close friend or family member is fine. If you really don't think you have anyone to do this walk yourself down the asile. It sounds like you have been on your own without your mom walk proud.

My best friend said "If a person does not mean anything to than don't have them in your wedding."

Combined with your kind comments I feel a little steadier. I don't have any siblings beside my sister and she's one of my brides maids. So I think I may just walk myself down the isle and who cares what anyone else thinks. Lol .

No one was going to walk me down the isle. I haven't seen my father since I was 2 and my mom never remarried. I have an older brother, but I didn't like that idea either. So I was just going to walk down the isle by myself, and no one that I mentioned it too seemed to think that was too odd. The minister said he could walk me down the isle and that is a common practice as well :)
I also took out the father-daughter and son-mother dances.

I did all that, then we eloped haha!

I just recently married in July. I too didn't have a dad. Recently my 16 y/o son got me & his dad out of a big jam so to honor him I ask if he would walk his mommy down the aisle. I couldn't have chosen a better person & he was proud to be the one to give me away to a man he knew would take good care of his mother--his step-dad.

Please feel strong enough to walk alone down the aisle. (isle = island)

Some women have even walked down the aisle with a pet dog at their side. At an outdoor wedding, a bride arrived at the altar on her favorite horse!

I had my brother with me. If not for him, I would have asked a cousin.

I think it would be a wonderful moment if you chose to walk alone. Many brides do it out of preference, not just situations like you've been put in.
You could also consider having your groom come and get you. Once the music starts, he walks to the back of the church, opens the doors and you walk arm and arm together.

Whatever you decide, hold your head tall and be proud. No one is there to see who you walk in with. They're there to see who you walk away with... your new husband! :D

I think you should walk yourself. The whole idea that someone is "giving you away" is so dated anyway. I had my mom and brother walk me - but only because I love them so much and I wanted them with me. We skipped the giving away part and instead they gave me and my husband (now) a hug and sat down.
In the end - you are the one giving yourself to your husband. As long as you are OK - I think it shows what a strong woman you are and it will be beautiful! :)

I agree with most people above. If you have a brother than have him do it.or a cousin that you grew up with and are close to now or even just a guy best friend. Anyone like that will do aslong as you close to them. At least that's what I think.
