    Comfortmaker Airconditioner and Heater
I have a combo air and heating (comfortmaker RPJ II) unit. My place was cool this morning, but when I got home this evening it was warm the air conditioner didn't seem to be pushing too much cool air. I replaced the filters and still the air isn't as cool as it should be. I noticed that the 1/4" copper line that follows the insulated line from the inside unit to the outside airconditioner is hot to the touch. Should I be concerned and do I need to get the unit serviced?

Was the fan motor running in the outside unit?

It is on the roof and can not see it, but when I turn the system on, I hear it start up.

Could be the condensr fan motor. But you cannot see the unit running so??

A little trick,, when you get your problem solved,, have someone to assemble a makeshift rod or pipe (pcv) to the side of the unit on the roof, then tie a pretty piece of ribbon to the pipe in a way that when fan is running you can see the ribbon blowing in the breeze of the fan,, you can see this from the ground,, is a big help.

That is a good idea but I wonder what the neighborhood would look like with a pipe and ribbon on every home. LOL

Got onto the roof last night and what had happened was the power cord to the condenser fan was attached to the top of the unit and fell into the fan blades, which locked up the fan, thus causing the warm air. I pulled the top off and resecured the power line. Luckily the fan motor didn't burn out and it seems to be working fine now.
