Hey everybody, Travis from inson North Dakota here. I just had duel exhaust (straight pipes from the cat back) put on my 1996 chevy k1500 (5.7 vortec). The guy at the muffler shop informed me (after installation of course) that I would experience a decline in power. Does anybody know how much of a decline he was referring too? Will it keep declining? Can I do anything to beef the power back up, with out putting muffs back on? Thanks

I'm not sure why he would say that you will lose power. In my opinion you're more likely to gain slightly. By installing a less restrictive exhaust system, you actually reduce back-pressure and that allows the engine to "breath" better, thus allowing easier revving. The only way to be certain is to compare before and after specs on a dyno. Seat-of-the-pants results will be biased by the louder throatier tone. I'll bet it sounds better!
