Second question:

"Should you go out of your way to help people who bury their own graves?"

Here would be an example of the preceding question:

"A person drinks, does all sorts of drugs, and leads a self-destructive lifestyle. They see no interest in changing their behavior. Should you help them when they refuse to listen to reason, or should you leave them to suffer their own consequences?"


Here's just another question involving these questions:

Do you think it would me more interesting if we scored sides and have this be a competition, or should this just be for the fun of it?

Hhhmmmm there will always be differing opinions when religion is involved. But in my opinion if you move to a christian country or vise versa you should abide by their customs etc. We have the same problems in Australia and it really gets to the point where our very culture is being threatened by foreigners coming in and not wanting to intergrate.

Ramadan is the month of fasting, it would be Eid that is celebrated.
I think celebrating Eid is not really necessary in a school,but if the muslim student could be excused from classes for that one day, I think that is fair enough.

I studied in a Christian school, but as there were students of all faiths in that country and school, we all had one day from each religious celebration as a school holiday.
And when Christmas and other Christian celebrations were celebrated, students who were not Christians were excused from participation,but if we wished we could get involved in it.

Same thing going on here in Canada (Quebec to be more specific) concerning the wearing of veils and identifying yourself at the voring booth.

My school celebrated Eid and Christmas. It was great fun. On the lead up to Eid we got busy with the henna and around the same time people's mums would come in to show us how to wear saris and bring in Pakistani food. It is still a found memory for me. We didn't get as long off for Eid as Christmas though, just a few days.

Around Christmas we would send cards, give presents and sweeties. For both events they were organised by the school.

I don't see a problem with it; we still managed to get work done as well during both festivities. Although the enthusiasm for both trailed off in the older years as the work got harder.

Any legal citizen should have the ability to effect change in our nation. Today, in some areas of the county, there are large amounts of German culture, so they have german events throughout the year.
We speak English ( sort of anyway) because the largest number of immigrants came from english speaking areas to start with.

And yes, as in Ramadan, first those students who are Muslim should be allowed to have those foods required for their observance, and there is no problem having information about their beleifs known,

Where I moved from, this kind of debate drew so much flack from every culture and religion present. It got so that the school system celebrated nothing. But there was still a "winter break" (around Christmas) and a "spring break" (around Easter). Was a farce but the school district decided they could no longer appease everyone and if they had a Christmas program for the children, they would have to have a celebration for everyone else.

If a school is administered say by a Christian missionary (like the one I studied in), then the parents should expect the school to have more focus on Christian events.
If not the parents can choose a school handled by a neutral admin or of a similar religious admin.

It is rather unfair to enroll my child in a Christian school and expect the school to celebrate Islamic events.
I am not sure how it is in America.

About the food in Ramadan, there is none if the student is fasting.:)

The United States has NO official religion.

In my opinion, if schools are going to celebrate one religion's holidays, they should celebrate ALL religions' holidays.

Otherwise, do none of them.

AND, I just want to make everyone happy... Sheesh, can't we all just get along? No? Ok, so here is the deal: If a man/woman comes into my home to live that I never knew before and he wanted to make changes... I would compromise unless I had a different choice to keep my home the same. Does that sound so awful?

My home is mine, so anyone who comes in must try to adjust a little and I will compromise to fit them in:)

We live in a free country so yes. legal immigrants should be able to practice their cultures and religious practices within the realm of what already has been established

As far as the question between Christmas and Ramadan... Christmas is a nationally recognized holiday not necessarily a religious holiday and Ramadan is not. There is no religious celebration held in schools celebrating Christmas it is very secular. So no Muslims don't have the right to demand the school system celebrate Ramadan because no other religious celebration is being held... remember separation of church and state.
