    Topics in homosexuality
Why do the administrators of AskMeHelpDesk close threads when good conversation is taking place? Recently I was involved in a conversation that was closed because it was "off topic." The original poster asked about the differences between gay and straight people as they pertain to the judgement of homosexuals. It was a very vague question, and I thought the debate about gay marriage in the US would illustrate perfectly the judgements made by some straight people on gay people. Apparently AMHD has a problem with controversy and proper discourse. It is sad that the free exchange of ideas cannot take place on such a forum.

I was not part of that discussion, and I really don't know exactly what thread you are talking about.

However, threads get closed when they go way off topic, specifically the OPs original question as well as when there has been some disparaging happening. We also tend to close posts if there have been reports from other members as posts or topics being inappropriate.

It's not that AMHD has a problem with controversy, it may be, and I don't know about this particular thread, that others had a problem. Once we get enough reports, we close a thread.

P.S. I have moved this post to the Members Discussion board.

Again I have no idea of the thread you are talking about, we often move threads from some areas to a members area if the discussion are getting more "active"

But threads are suppose to stay on topic,if not, they are often closed.
Instead of a thread wondering, a new thread should be started in those cases.

The thread didn't wander, it was on topic. The question was about judgement of queer persons, I that is exactly what we were discussing.

I read the closed threads. The posts wandered. They weren't focused on answering the original question of how straights judge gays. The reason I say this is because there was a clear attack/defend/retaliate interaction going on. It was not very constructive, especially for the OP who may be confused and looking for honest opinions and guidance. Instead, they got to witness a fight.
