We have a Sony Trinitron TV that we purchased 10 years ago. The T.V. now has no picture but does have sound. When you first turn on the T.V. it will show a good picture for 2 minutes, then it starts getting lines as though poor reception and within another minute, the picture starts disappearing; black screen starts at the bottom and moves up until the picture disappears altogether.

I think the problem is heat related as it works fine till it heats up

Wish I could say it is easy to fix and you can do it yourself

You could call a TV repair shop and get an estimate

A TV that has lived 10 years has probably live longer than expected
