    Depo shot
I was on the shot starting July. And I was to go back to the doctor September 4 or the 18 and I didn't go. My question is how long does it usually take it for my cycle to start? I was spotting the first of the month then it stop. I have been on the shot before and this has never happen I hope someone can help me.

It can take 12-18 months for the shot to get out of your system, and it may take a few months for your body to regulate and your periods to return to normal.

This is not in just the case with the shot... any form of medicated birth control introduces hormones that your body doesn't normally produce. Once those hormones are gone you body has to get used to functioning without them

I would not worry at all. Wait a few months, and if you still haven't had a period call your doctor.

I was on the depo shot for five years and did not have period the whole time! My doctor said that it was completely normal! It took well over a year for it to get out of my system and as it was doing so I had very irregular periods. I had been off it over two years when my doctor decided to put me on the pill to regulate my periods. This was mainly for my piece of mind. There is probably nothing to worry about but everybody's body is different! Like said before me, if you haven't started in a few months, call your doctor! Don't hesitate, that's what they are here for!

Hope I have been of some help!. Shannon
