Our concrete porch is pulling away from the brick front leaving a large gap and the porch is sloping down how can I fix this?
Well,
I had one customer with the same problem, and with the help of a concrete contractor,we decided to score the concrete near the house(a diamond embedded steel blade on a grinder)and put wedges in (many, many wedges, also steel) till we broke the concrete off(about a 2"-3" line as long as the porch)then the concrete that was put in closed the opening(they also added about 1"-2" to the top of the porch.
This was the most economic way to fix this particular problem,It was not a permanent solution.
A more permanent fix would require more removal, namely the front where the footer is not deep enough and it is settling, water running by(or from a downspout perhaps)can undermine the concrete, causing this to occur.
I do not suggest putting pins in to the brickwork, this is not a preferred method of repair because further settling will draw the brick from the house.
Hope this helps,
Ken
