Is this an electrical pull on, push off activated knob? Or the lever action engagement unit?

o.k. without trying to start the engine, try this:
    1. set on seat, and depress clutch / brake pedal as if you were going to start.
    2. turn the key to the "on" position,
    3. activate the engagement knob.
    4. do you hear a click?
    5. if so your switch is working the pto clutch.
    6. if you do not hear a click, it could be the switch, the wiring, or the pto clutch itself.
    7. you can run a jumper wire directly from the battery to the pto clutch wires, or plug. If it does not have a plug use "t" pins and pierce the wires insulation, next tie the negative wire onto one of the t pins, then touch the positive wire to the other t pin. If it clicks the pto clutch is o.k. (hope that it is, these are really expensive, some over $300.00). If the clutch test good, trace wires to look for naked areas, or breaks, if none, assume it is the switch itself.
