Proper Closet Flange Installation on Cast Pipes
    Greeting all,

Im remodeling my bathroom, when I pulled up the old Toilet I found that the Closet flange was not mounted/screwed to anything, in fact there is a 1-2 in gap all the way around. It is a cast iron pipe and been this way for years with no previous problems.

Being an ignorant newbie, I didn't think much of it and assumed my predecessors knew what they were doing. Now, I've laid my tile around the existing opening and finally started thinking about proper toilet installation when I realized that this could be a potential speed bump.

    Any recommendations?

With Cast pipes can you get away with letting it dangle in the air and not securing it to the sub floor?

    Thanks for the help
