    What type of plug?
I couldn't find a service manual for this old school "spotlight". Its called a clay paky sapphire. Its pretty old. And just wondering what type of plug do I put on it. It has 2 black wire, ground, brown, and a blue. Pretty weird stuff. It says at the back of the unit:

    220v, 50Hz, 1500 V.. A
    Black, black---light stopper
    Blue, brown---lamp

Canone help me out on what type of plug is it. A picture of it would be great. Thanks

The color codes are misleading. If this unit was made after 2004, then it should be using the newer iEC color codes, blue is neutral, and brown is hot for L1, both delivering 220 volts. Black formerly was neutral, now is hot for L2,

Something does not make sense. Of course, color codes are for building wiring, and appliances do not need to follow those codes, while most do.

You will need to trace out the wiring to each component, determine the voltage needed to each and wire accordingly. This unit may need two separate circuits.

Once you have determined how it is wired, perhaps you can then use standard stage pin connectors.

What type of wire should I use for a plug rated 230V AC, 50HZ. This fixture came with a connector that has 3 pins rated @ 32A. What should I do.

The wire size needs to be of sufficient size to carry the load, which should not exceed 32 amp rating of the connector, therefore, #8 S*** cord will do.
