I am working on a 95 Honda Civic that I replaced the head gasket. When I finished the job, the car started and ran fine. I started it the next morning and backed it our of the garage to let it run to burn the antifreeze out of the exhaust. No problem here. Car started and ran fine, backed out and still OK. After about 2 or 3 minutes, it started speeding up and slowing down. As soon as I stepped on the gas, it smoothed out but as soon as I took my foot off the gas, it continued to surge and finally died. Now it will not start. It cranks but no spark. I have performed all the tests suggested, the K-Test, replaced the ICM, cap, and rotor, checked the coil, checked the fuses. Still no spark. Main relay and fuel pump relay are working--just no spark. There are no codes from the ECM. Any suggestions?::

Could be throttle position sensor, disconnect, manually move and see that resistance changes smoothly

Does CEL come on and go off after 2 seconds, when the ignition switch is turned to Position II? If it does, the problem may be a bad distributor; i.e. bad CKP, CYL, or TDC sensors. Remember, bench testing coils proves little--it doesn't simulate real life conditions.

Thanks to both for you giving me suggestions. I disconnected the throttle position sensor and moved it manually as suggested and it seems to be good. Next I disconnected the electrical connector at the distributor and probed terminals B & F--C & G and D and H with an ohmmeter to check resistance on the CKP/TDC and CYP. I got 380 on each of these and when I checked for continuity to ground on each terminal and continuity did not exist. According to my manual 350 to 700 is good and continuity should not exist when checking continuity to ground. Is this correct? If it is--any other suggestions? I appreciate any suggestions.
