Is there a timeframe on receiving a settlement?
My car accident claim was finally settled in Court back in April. I have yet to receive my settlement check. The defense attorney resigned from her position and the office claims they could not find the file or paperwork for the case. Now they supposedly have someone who found the information. How much longer should I wait? Is there anything that requires them to pay a settlement in a certain amount of time?

If the claim was settled in Court, it would mean you have an attorney nO? If so, ask your attorney. There are probably differen laws for every state, however, in New York, you have 21 days to tender the settlement. I would imagine most states are around that period. There are exceptions (mostly regarding insurance companies that have gone bankrupt, are in liquidation, etc.) but in 95% of cases, it whould be around that.
