My Kenmore Elite HE 3t washer will not unlock and displays error code f 26. What does error code f 26 mean?

I just had this problem. A web search was to no avail. I opened the door of the washer and pushed the plack button (door lock button, I believe and heard a click! ). After I heard the click, I closed the door (gently) and then started the machine and it worked normally as expected.

I sincerely hope this works for other people as the Kenmore Manual was of NO USE!

In summary, if you get the F26 error code, Press Stop, Open the door, press the black button just above the right middle of the machine opening, above the latch, hopefully, you will also hear a click, and then your machine will work normally.

Thank you!! I had to do this several times. The black button was stuck half way out. After the 5th try it finally reset. Four kids and no time for repair service in this house.

The suggestions above helped. My problem was the little black button was stuck in. I gentely used plyers to release it, then dabbed some WD40 to give a little lubrication. Worked perfect.
