    Starter issues
OK I have a 97 5speed grandam and I have a problem everyonce in a while when I start it
... when go to start it sometimes it will rev really high rph than it the starter sounds like it is still trying to start the car at this point I have taken the key right out of the ignition and I open the hood and the battery is getting really hot and eventually the engine will stop and the starter will stop trying to turn over and will start clicking and then the battery dies

After a few minutes I will go to start it and it will start up
I really want to figure this out because its retarded and I have no idea what's wrong I have never seen this happen before... someone mentioned it could be an anti theft system but I have never seen any theft system that does that before.

Are you saying the starter is remaining engaged with the key out?

If that's the case, the ignition system is likely the culprit.

Has your vehicle been checked for factory recalls? There have been problems with this vehicles ignition system. Contact a GM dealer with the VIN.
