    Lay Off In California
Are there any California regulations prohibiting a company from laying off an employee who is pregnant? Not on maternity leave but working and pregnant. This person would be part of a 10 employee layoff.

They can not lay her off because she is pregnant, but she can be laid off if business is slow and it is merely for seniority or productivity and has nothing to do with being pregnant

Thank you. This person was actually identified as part of the RIF prior to any announcement of her pregnancy. When we move forward she will be about 7 months along. And yes, this RIF is because of the economic conditions of our industry which is impacting our bottom line.
