    To Young for an Allergist?
 My 8 month old grand-son has allergies to something. His eyes are red ,itch, face breaks out, scratches his head, hair is growing very slow and has ear infections regularly. Is he to young to see a allergist. The doctors in this hick town just tell us there is nothing that can be done. That he is to young for the treatment. Gives him benadril and cream. He is so good and happy but it seems to be really bothering him, plus he looks bad at times.

Allergy testing for children is not a pleasant procedure. It involves laying still for awhile, and getting lots of needle pricks in the back. And yes, and 8months old is too young. My daughter wasn't able to get tested until she was 3 or 4... 4 I think.

A lot of the symptoms you are describing are common for infants... slow hair growth, baby acne etc.

Make sure the baby is being bathed in a mild soap, or try a soap for sensitive skin.

The ear infections should be documented and checked out by and ENT if they occur frequently.

Have you narrowed down any possible allergins? Cats, dogs, etc? Have you checked your local yellow pages for pediatric allergists?

I'm sorry to answer your questions with questions, but sometimes we have to get the entire picture.
