I have a whirlpool dryer that just stopped working. I set the timer and press start. I can hear the timer working, but the drum does not engage. If it was a bad door sensor, would that still let the timer operate? Not sure what to do. I do not have a volt meter. Any help?

You need to check the thermal fuse and located on the back side of the vent housing but you will need a meter to check for continuity. You could jumper around it for test purposes only.

How do I jump it?

Unplug the dryer. Remove the wires from the thermal fuse and connent the 2 removed wires or and a wire between the 2 removed wires. Plug the dryer back in and try to start

IT's normallY black or white. About 3/8 " wide and 3 ''long. A wire on each end connected to it

Doug, it worked! I first diconnected the wires on the thermal fuse and jumped them, like you advised and the dryer started right up (which meant that the problem was with the thermal fuse). I found a thermal fuse at a place called Factory Direct Appliance for $11.77. Picked it up the next day, slapped in on, and now we have an operating dryer. Again, thank you so much for your help, you are awesome!
