I am installing a new whirlpool tub & would like to minimize the size of cuts required in the subfloors where possible. Can I get an extender to lower the drain tub from the tub to eliminate cutting the entire space from the drain to the overflow tube? This would only require an extension of approximately 1 - 2".

If I can, can I use the subfloor as a pressure point to tighten the tub drain or make sure that hole is large enough to tight directly against the tub?

Any assistance would be greatly appreaciated!

Hi Mark,

Yes, ask for a 1 1/2" compression tail piece in either metal or plastic. This can extend down through a 2" hole and connect to the trap.
