    External HDD Write protection
    I have an external drive with songs and I like to write protect with a software in order to avoid to delete any records. Does anybody knows how to do it?

    You could try setting up a quota on the drive... not sure if this would work or not as I don't have a spare drive at the moment to try it on.
    Right click on the drive letter and select properties. Click the Quota tab.

    If it's formatted with NTFS, you could set permissions on it. If you have simple file sharing on, first you need to turn it off by going to Control Panel, Folder Options, Advanced tab, and uncheck Use Simple File Sharing.

    Go into My Computer, right click the drive, and go to properties. In the Security tab, delete all the permissions except for Everyone and SYSTEM. For system, leave Full Control (and everything else) checked. For Everyone, uncheck Write and Modify.

    OK Thanks but the problem is that I like to keep the read only in any other computer because it is removable. So any kind of read only from the operational system is not applied in any other computer. So I try to find asoftware running from the external disk locally in order to keep the security in any PC i.e. to make the same action with a hardware button some removable drives have.
