From my water main I have a 3/4" pipe at meter. I have been told that if I run a 1" line from the meter into house and tap off with 3/4" then to 1/2" it will increase water pressure in my home. Is this true or will I only get 3/4" pressure?

False! Increasing the water main size will give you more volume but will not increase your pressure. However, once the increased volume hits the 3/4" house main the volume will be choked back to three quarters again so unless you increase the house main to one inch increasing the water service won't help either the pressure or the volume.
