Just been served papers to appear in court on an outstanding credit card debt or judgment of default will follow if I don't but even if I go to court show what little income I have there is no way I can make arrangement to pay back? What should I do?

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's post. This tends to cause confusion. So your post has been moved to its own thread.

Instead of jumping in and usurping someone else's thread have you tried reading some the several threads that have pretty much the same question?
If you look at similar threads they will tell to file an Intent to Defend and see if the creditor will negotiate.

From personal experience of not defending myself I suggest you go in there and defend yourself. Honestly due to the fact I'm not an attorney, you may want to consult an attorney who may be able to give you some legal advice to help you. All I know is the biggest mistake I made for myself was not defending myself. Now I'm at the mercy to some extent of the creditor.
