The drain in my shower is extremely slow. I have tried using common liquid clog removers, but they have not helped one bit. I have also tried to use an Auger that I have, but I can get no further than a couple of inches into the drain. When I look down the drain there is actually water that is visible, just sitting there. Is this some sort of container area? It almost appears that the water fills up there and then flows over the sides of the drain when it gets to the top of the drain. Problem is that it is extremely slow. I am a novice, so any help would be appreciated.

The water you see at the base is the trap seal and belongs there. Shower clogs are caused by rotting hair mixed with grease from the soap.
You hit resistance at the bend of the trap. This is a return bend and you have to crank and push the snake at the same time. Once past the trap it gets easier. Put out about 15' of snake and after you're done flush the drain line out with two large pans of boiling water. Good luck, Tom

Tired like heck to get the auger thorugh, but nothing happened. It's a cheap one so maybe I need something better. I looked down the drain and saw a bunch of rocks at the bottom. I vacumed those out, and still couldn't make the turn. Eventually I used a plunger, and the water is draing well now, but I still can't get the auger through. I guess I might just need to get a plumber if it backs up again.

Now the question is, how did rocks get in your shower trap and how do we get them out? Did you remove them all? Purchase a auger that fits on a power drill and give it another shot. Good luck, Tom

Not sure how the rocks got there. They were nickel size pebbles. Also appears as if there might be little concrete buildup. I'm wondering if its from when they built the house and did the tile in the shower.

Sounds like someone didn't block off the drain opening and some mortar and crud got down in the trap. I would try to clear it out. All it will do down there is catch hair and start to block up. Regards, Tom
