    Child Support
I would like to have my son's dads check garnished for child support. He claims he isn't working. Can I have his unemployment check garnished if I proceed now before he gets a "real" job? That could be years before that happens? Julia

I don't think you can get it garnished and too bad he is a dead beat dad. The court can order him to pay support but they don't always pay. I suggest legal counsel to see what can be done.

Do you have a court order? Not sure if this is a big help, but when my boyfriend was getting unemployment child support was taken out of his check, not the full amount but half of his check.

If you have a court order for the support then go to your local department of child support enforcement- DCSE here in Virginia, they will get they money for you. I believe that only they can get the support from a NCP's pay check. If you don't have an order then go to court and get one.
