OK so my new dryer which is a Kenmore only 2 years old takes forever to dry the clothes... I thought it was the lint plugs so we checked out all that and everything was clear. :rolleyes:

Someone told me that sometimes the Air exchaner can interfere with the dryer??

Does anyone know if this is true?

I find it hard to believe that the AE would cause the dryer to take forever to dry the clothes unless it is hooked up to a similar vent system.

This is a 2 year old house that we recently moved into.

Any info would be very much appreciated

Oh and I do not think it is the element in the dryer because it seems to be quite warm in there...

The fan in the dryer pulls air out of the room, through the drum, and outside. If you have an air exchanger that holds the house under negative pressure, the dryer fan won't move as much air as it should. Should be fairly easy to check. Just shut the AE off, and run a load and see how it goes.

If so, have the AE checked. If it is holding the house under negative pressure, unconditioned air will be leaking in everywhere raising your heating and cooling bills. You could also be pulling radon up through the floor.

Ok so I am very new with all the Air Exchanger stuff, never had one before. When we first moved in we had a man come look at the AE system and everything was good with that.

We have a 5 zone Hot Water Raditation Heating system in here. It's a big house so I hope the AE does not increase the heating bill!!

Back with the Dryer... ok Just had it running for 60 minutes and clothes are still very damp... it is taking me two hours to dry a regular load of clothes..?

Go outside and check the dryer vent. There should be a strong flow of warm, moist air, almost like a hot air vent with forced air heat, except moist. If it is cool out, you should be able to see water condensing. Otherwise, hold an ice filled glass in it, and see if it quickly draws beads of water.

Hi there is a strong flow of warm Air coming out of the vent outside... maybe the element needs to be replaced, but then I would think there would be no heat in the dryer when I open it...
I am not sure, will have to get my dear father to come over and investigate it...

Any other sugggestions would be great!

Usually the elements work fine until the resistance wire breaks and then doesn't heat at all. No good ideas on what to try now.
