Being sued for rent almost 2yrs later
I made a verbal agreement with my best friends mom of 15 yrs to rent a room for 150.00 a month. At that time I was a full time student and single mom. The verbal agreement was that I would pay 150 a month or help with her home and children. I helped over and above. The last few months I didn't give her money. She never complained... I helped with the family. A year and a few months later I decided to move out because I was getting married. She paid for my hotel room for all the wedding guest at my wedding as a gift and gave me money as a gift. Months after I moved out we had an argument and I haven't spoke to her. She now has sent me a letter suing me for back rent? She tripled the amount and added interest on. She has a history of suing friends and family. What should I do and does she have a case?:( please help with advice.

I don't think she has. She's going to have a hard time justifying her accounting. And the wedding gift seems to show she didn't think you owed anything.
