Dying over black hair, how to fade it (open)
Hello, I have read multiple threads about dying over dyed black hair. I have read about many different ways about going around it such as stripping the hair color at a salon, or by bleaching it. I don't want to do any of these because I wouldn't be able to bare it.

I have a weird case. My hair is naturally a dark brown. I have been dying it black for less than a year (not much), and every time I dyed it, after about 1 or 2 months my hair was back to its original color. Which is a beautiful brown with an amber tint out in the sun. I would use a regular Garnier shampoo and I would see purple water almost every time I washed my hair.

However, this time around, it seems to be staying in longer. I read about Prell and Head and Shoulders dandruff shampoo. And my mom is out buying Head and Shoulders right now. Haha!

But anyway, here is my question.
After using Prell or Head and Shoulders and my hair fades back to its normal color, (which I'm sure it will because it always does), will it work if I dyed over it then? I tried dying it yesterday but it didn't work because my hair is not faded yet.

Or does fading hair just lighten the color but still not allow you to dye over it?

I had permanent black hair dye in my hair, have been dying it black for ten years with boxed hair dye from a shop . I have been washing my hair with head and shoulders for two months every day. My hair has now faded to a dark brown colour I'd say the head and shoulders strips black hair dye but it will only get it to a dark brown colour if you want it any lighter I would go to a professonal hairdresser and have it done properly or you will ruin your hair with shop based boxed stripper or hair dye.
