To evaluate a good historical source, you need to examine several sources and compare information. I wouldn't rely on any one single source.
Is history bias? Can the sources be flawed? You bet! History is written by the winners. A japanese historian and a american historian will have two different spins on WWII. And both might be right but which will sell more books. There are many elements in an event in history. But the basics its Greed, Sex, Power. You might say Food but that is a subset of greed. (You have food, we don't, we're going to take yours.) That's the fun of history. Reading between the lines. Look deeper into the motivation. You might read where a ruler attacks another country without cause. But what is not spelled out is that he has to go to war to keep power at home because he's screwing up or going to war he doesn't have to be around his wife he had to marry for political reasons. And always be wary of people that say we were here first. Tell that to the people that they kicked out. People move. A lot.
