The fan on a newly installed Hamilton Bay ceiling fan does not work. The lights work, but not fan. I've connected "white wire" to "white wire", "black & blue wire" to "black wire" and "green wire" to ground.

Circuit's are okay and there is nothing obstructing the blades.

Okay lets start simple, Does the fan have a pull chain, if so try pulling it a couple of times. Next I would check my connection with black,black, and blue make sure the two black wires are firmly together. If neither helps post back we will see what we can figure out.

Also check the direction switch is not in the middle.

Did you do the wiring or did someone else install the fan for you?

If you did the work, tell me how you got the wire from your panel to your ceiling to power the fan.

The normal wiring I would expect to find in the outlet box is a 12/2 (bare Ground) wire. If the wire was feeding a lamp, it may be a 14/2 wire. If your fan needs to be on a 20 Amp line, then the 12/2 wire will be needed (By Code).

You should see a Black /White pair and bare ground to power the light. A second Black/White pair to a wall switch if you have one and a Black/Blue, White and Ground (Green or Bare) coming from the fan.

From the source power you would connect Black to Black on the Switch loop. Wrap a small amount of black tape on the white wire from the switch loop to show that this is a load carrying wire. Connect the White with the tape on it to the Black & Blue from the fan's fixture. Connect the fan's white to the power source white and all bare or green wires together.

Hamilton Bay seems to favor remote controls now instead of wall switches, so you may not need the switch loop. Also. Make sure that your remote has batteries in it.

I second the posts about the switch and the reverse switch. If the black and blue wires are connected together, and the light works, it's something with the fan itself. Check for any loose connections as well.
