    Unfairly Illegal
I have a friend who came here from South America when she was 15 with a passport to live with her grandmother and two aunts. Her mother was supposed to follow her here to live in the U.S. and file her papers to make my friend legal. Her mother never came, and now my friend is 18 and illegal. Is there anything she can do to become legal? She does not want to leave but she can hardly do anything. She wants to go to college so badly but she has nothing, everyone she consulted told her she would have to get married to become legal or wait for laws to change... her mother will not come to the U.S... can she do anything?

Your friend can apply for citizenship just like everyone else. Obviously she came here legally on some sort of visa? What type, why was it not renewed ? She can also return home and reapply for a new visa to come to school here ( not hard to get)
