    Painting kitchen cabinets
I have heard that painting kitchen cabinets with automotive paint is the new style and getting more popular as time goes bye. I also want to paint my wooden kitchen cabinets with automotive paint. I want to know how I can prepare the doors and drawers for painting. I want the doors to be smooth with now wood grain showing and I wonder if I can do this with several coats of primer (primer, sand, primer, sand etc.)? If so can I do my primer with spray cans?

I have done this a few times, that is, two or three kitchens. Have always gone from dark to light. I have never heard of automotive paints being used because there is a lot out there that provides hard finish that will hold up to wipe downs and finger marks.

I have always taken all cupboards apart and outside to wash with a good detergent and scrub brush to get all grease off, dry well and sand down. I then coat with a primer called Bullseye 123, dry well, sand again, get all sanding dust off and then put first coat on. I have always had excellent finishes.

The primer I use, Bullseye, does not come in spray cans.
