Answers I saw to things do no good I have no electrical vocabulary.
My ceiling fan and light stopped working. The wiring on the wall I figure is OK as the other light for the diningroom works. Maybe I need what someone called a capacitator or maybe just some little thing that looks like a battery. A friend changed something like this at another house. I am a missionary living in Honduras. All the electricians I know don't know that a ceiling fan can be fixed.

How do you know the wiring is OK? Correct me if I'm wrong but are the two connected together? How would u know they are? Check the wires for both fixtures. Turn off the breaker before starting work

Basically what you are being asked is to describe the circuit that the ceiling is on and if the International Electrical code or if it is just wired the best you could do, given the location? Do you have electricity 24/7 or is it whenever the government turns it on for you?

Do you have a volt meter or circuit tester available? Are you running 204 Volts to the house? Is there any way you could take a digital picture of the wiring to show us what you have and attach it here?

Did the fan and lights just quit at the same time? Was there a storm in the area at the time it failed?

If both the fan and light don't work.. .

Is it a remote fan?

If not, it is likely a wiring problem.

It sounds like there is no light on the fan. Its just a fan. If it is the starting cap it might be easer just to change out the fan. If you think you can change the cap just remove it and buy another one.
