    I'm not sure you've got the right question down here... 4 can't equal 10. Is that a typo, or is that what they gave you?

    KISS
    Typo:

    It's probably 3x+4=10 or 3x=10+4
    Because + and = share the same key on the keyboard
    and 3x=10+4 doesn't make much sense, I'd solve
    3x+4=10

    Well then.

    You want to get the x by itself, and you need to do the same thing to each side at the same time.

    3x+4, it's easy to get rid of the 4. Just subtract it, but remember to do it from the other side, too.

    3x+4-4=10-4
    So, 3x=6

    Now, to get X by itself, just divide each side by that 3 next to.

    3x/3=6/3
    x=__

    Fill in the blank :)
