How long is a judgment against me legal in Florida. The one I have is from may 4th 1994. With a bank. And they hit my account.. I know some states it's only good for 10 years. Don't know what Florida is. Need an answer. And what can I do to get the money back into my account. The bank I owed I also bank at. The bank changed names three times.

I couldn't find the law for Florida, but most judgements are 10 yrs but they can be renewed. Sometimes only once, other times indefinitely.

For the creditor to obtain a court order to serve on the bank, they would have to show the judgement was in force. So its unlikely you can get your money back.

What you need to do is go to the court that issued the judgement and check whether its been renewed.

Due to my recent issues in Florida with my judgement I found out that a judgment can be renewed on the 7th year. If it hasn't been renewed then you can probably contact the 3 credit bureaus and ask that it be removed.
If you've been garnished because of it you may have to prove it's too old.

I went and looked up Florida law and it states that if it's renewed then it's 20 years.
