    probability prob
I am not sure I remember how to do probability questions, my daughter brought home her excel math and there is a question that says... Natalie has a change purse full of coins. She has 13 pennies, 15 dimes and 22 nickels. If she takes a coin out of her purse, without looking, the probability that is will be a penny is ____ out of ____?? I have totally forgotten how to do these types of problems, please help:confused:

    Add up the total number of coins : 13 + 15 + 22

The probability would be the number of pennies out of the total number of coins.

Hi, the answer to your question is...

    1. add up 13, 15, and 22.
    2. since there are 13 pennies, then the probility of her drawing a penny is 13 out of 50. (because 50 is what you get after adding 13, 15, and 22)

    Glad to help,

    Nicole
