L1 Tax and SSN for dependents
    Hello,

I would be thankful if some one can help me by answering the below questions I have

    1. I am on L1 and wife and kid on L2 from sept 2007. Can I apply for SSN for my dependents?
    2. While filling up the form W-4(2007) what should I put for child tax credit?
    3. There is one section called Deductions and Adjustment Worksheet... should I fill this section? If so for point 2 what should I fill in?

    Thanks in advance

    Abhi

    1) No SSN, but you CAN apply for an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) when you file your tax return.

    2) Put nothing. It is likely you will qualify to claim the Child Tax Credit, but it is NOT guaranteed.

    3) Do not fill in this section unless your wfe wife work. If she is at home with the children, just claim one exemption for yourself, one for your wife and one for each child.
