I want to get rid of my muffin belly.
Hey there. It is soon to be summer and I when I wear board shorts or any clothing parts of my stomach and my lower back hang over my pants and makes me look like a muffin. I'm not extremely over weight as I only weigh 65kg but my body fat is in the most akward place. What can I do to reduce this particular fat? Am I eating too much? Can alcohol make you put on weight?

Try a different style of shorts, hey we all have to work with what we've got! Try something that cuts a little bit higher, It just started to come back into fashion here (UK) again so it'll be coming in with you soon as well. I'm guessing your from New Zealand/ Australia correct me if I'm wrong* If it is our fashions don't differ too wildly. Go for the fifties look which is popular and very flattering for curvier women.

You can also try toning up by doing running and maybe something like yoga, but I warn you it'll probably be the last place to go as nature is cruel.

As for the alcohol, it contains a lot of calories but research has shown it is mainly the decrease in ihibitions which causes you to eat a mountain of chips and cheese that causes all the weight gain. Also alcopops contain a ridiculous amount of sugar,as does wine. If you want to drink the less calorific drinks go for gin and tonics or vodka and tonics. Spirits with a low calorie mixer contain much less calories than say a pint of beer or wine. It also decreases hangover chances as there are less impurities in clear spirits.
    Calorie Counter - Alcohol

As for losing weight through diet the normal cut out sugar foots and fizzy drinks like coke. Eat more greens and veg. Limit portions to sensible amounts. Eat wholegrain. Drink more water. Be careful with cheese and creamy sauces.

*it's just because its an english speaking country with summer coming soon

Haha! Yeah, been there done that one!

I think it's the same old sensible answer - everything in moderation! Although I am struggling with the current fashion at the moment! I have large breasts and the cut of the tops are making me look at least 7 months pregnant! :(
