    Waste Backup
I live in a traditional style home. The downstairs bath and the upstairs guest bath located above the downstairs bath seem to have waste in them when I get home in the evenings and I know that no one is at home so there should not be any waste. I am on city sewer. Before I call a plumber, can someone please help me out.

    Patiently awaiting your reply.

Sounds like you otta be calling Ghost Busters instead of a plumber. I could some how understand it if the back ups were all downstairs. But the upstairs back up throws me. In any respect backups can't happen unless something's draining. Is you AC condensate or your rainwater run off connected to your drainage system? That would explain it. Cheers, Tom

Is your floor below street level? Do you know anything about a backwater valve? Are you having drain problems when you use your washing machine? Is someone home during these times of backups?

The Floor is not below street level. No on is home when this is happening. I do not know what a drain valve is? However, I noticed that a vent on the top of my roof looks blocked from what seems like a dirt divers build up? Could this be causing the back up?

The upstairs bathroom is attached to the Washing machine. I had not noticed any type of backup from the wash though. I did notice spots on the ceiling in my garage located just below the upstairs bathroom and the washroom. I went into the attic and tried to follow the spots that were present, I could not find why there would be wetness there. I noticed an aluminum piping that lead to the blocked vent atop my house that I spoke of above.

    Confused,

Call the plumber, have him check for main line clog

My original question stands unanswered\. Is your AC condensate or your rainwater run off connected to your drainage system? Regards, Tom
