    What does "open hot" mean when testing your outlets?

    What are you testing for and what are you using to test with?

    I suspect that you are using a plug in outlet tester. "Open Hot" would mean that there is no voltage to the outlet.

    There are a myriad of reasons for an Open Hot. A switch in the circuit up stream of the outlet, tripped breaker, Hot was never connected at the panel, GFCI outlet short circuit.
