    Changing Previously filed tax forms
    Hello Everybody

Does anyone know if IRS forms that I had filed previously can be modified?

Here's my situation, I got married in November 2005. For that year I filed 1040 NR-EZ as a single. In 2006, I filed as a married filing jointly and used form 1040 EZ. I recently realized that I should have the same form in the previous year too. This would double my deductions and exemptions and save me a whole bunch.

    Thanks

    Mr. Mallick:

Sure you can modify a filed tax return. The process is called amending, and can be done using Form 1040X.

It's a relatively simple process for a tax pro. If you need my help. Contact me via email.
