    Heat Pump Not Coming On
Hi. I'm having a problem with my Air-Ease Heat Pump. When I drop the temperature on the thermostat, the air conditioner will not come on. However, if I then switch the "heat-off-cool" switch to "off" then back to "cool" it comes on fine. What would cause this?

The heat pump is an Air-Ease unit with a Rite-Temp 8085C programmable thermostat.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Well,
In order of operation it goes,. Thermostat -to- Control Board -to- Contactors.
Thermostat (you know where that is)
    Control Board (located in furnace)
Contactors (located in outside Condensing Unit)
You would need to poke around with a meter to read voltages (if you are savy at this sort of thing) then You could decipher your problem. Control boards are exspensive but contactors and thermostats are a dime a dozen.
