My Carrier 2.5 Handler was installed in 12/2005 under a housing home warranty. I have a home warranty for appliances and ac/plumbing with a different company now. My handler is now leaking around the unit where it sits. The drywall it sits on in cut out and becomes wet if the thermostat is below 80 degrees (this I noticed yesterday) the service people came out Friday morning (after a 5 hour window of 8-1 at 11am) and said the handler was fine except that the drain pvc pipe that attaches to the unit was loose and he glued it to the unit and he felt that was the cause of the problem even though I explained that the drywall around the unit was wet on Sunday and the drywall in my diningroom below right below the unit is puckered and falling down. He basically blew out the line which I had taken care of by addind 1/2 bleach and 1/2 water to the drain line if was backed up but it wasn't. The pan that runs along the bottom of the unit has very little water in it that would over spill and wet the dry wall below it.
Does anyone have any clue what may be causing this leakage in a 1 and 1/2 year old unit. The spoke the company that installed it (sold since I had the unit installed) and the new owner had no clue what I was talking about except he thought it could be dirty coils that would cost 300 dollars to clean. He suggested I have the service company come back and take the unit apart and examine it completely before they leave instead of just belowing out the drain pipe.
I don't plan on them leaving without them taking it apart and examining it fully and looking for the leak as I now have a big job to replace dry wall and knock down and repainting my dining room ceiling.
