    Hi lolly loo,

The answer to your riddle is SAND
    First line = quick sand
second line is what sand is made of, third line is Sand Man and last line where you find it.

    Hope that helps

Now, I do like your answer above. And, that was awfully helpful of you. The answer would seem to be correct. But, we aren't supposed to be doing student's homework for them here by giving them the possible answers. The homework was given to them to help them learn. We can give them hints, tell them if they are correct or incorrect though, and also guide them in the way to the correct answer.

Yes, I think that is what it is... only I immediately thought beach sand which is different than common soil. And I don't think it bad to help kids with their homework; It helps guide their struggling minds and trains it to think laterally by pointing how YOU use yours and came to your conclusion. It's a kind of apprenticing which I think further strengthens their cognitive arsenal. Logic can be taught and followed.

Well there's helping them get the answer and blatantly giving them the answer. If you hang around this site long enough you'll see tons of posts from kids wanting just the answers without doing any work.

A lot of kids today use the web to help them with their homework. Had I had that available to me when I was a kid, I would have done exactly the same thing. I received NO help whatsovever with my homework. But then, thank God, I didn't need it.

Giving a kid an answer WITHOUT explaining how you arrived at that answer, of course, is not constructive or instructive to the child. But EXPLAINING HOW you came to that conclusion or HOW you arrived at your answer IS! The first person who responded to this kid's post by giving him the answer to the riddle DID just that. He explained how he came to that conclusion. Next time this kid is given a riddle, he will try to apply the same kind of logic.
